The Power of One Decision: When Life Responds to the Decided
This morning, something extraordinary happened in our Grow Rich Mastermind community. After months of reading together through Napoleon Hill's monumental Law of Success in 16 Lessons, all 1,300 pages, we reached the final words. And those final pages delivered a message so timely, so urgent, that I knew I had to share it with you.
Hill wrote: "You are playing checkers with TIME! It is always your next move."
Let that sink in for a moment.
Time isn't waiting for you to feel ready. Time isn't neutral. Time actually leans toward the one who moves. Every small "yes" stacks and every step compounds. While you can't always make the perfect move, if you make enough moves, the law of averages works in your favor.
The Thread That Connects Us All
As I listened to the beautiful souls on our call this morning: Arnita, Mama Elizabeth, Mark, Wanda, Kevin (who called in despite being rushed to the hospital after a hard fall), Paul, Shane, and so many others, I noticed a common thread weaving through every story shared:
Life responds to the decided.
Most people wait for clarity before they choose. But here's the truth that changes everything: clarity comes because you choose.
I shared a personal story about a moment when, as a single mom searching for direction, one clear decision transformed my entire life. It wasn't that the path suddenly became illuminated before I decided. It was that once I made the decision, doors I needed began opening, quickly and almost effortlessly.
That's not magic. That's how life works when you stop standing still on the checkerboard.
Choose Your Response
Kevin reminded us this morning of a profound truth, even as he dealt with physical pain from his fall: "It's not what happens to you, it's what you do with it." His choice to show up on the call, to remain positive, to lead through example—that's the power of deciding who you are regardless of circumstances.
We all face those moments. The ones where life slams us down. Where the easy choice is to retreat. But what if, instead, we remembered that every response is a decision? And every decision is a move on the board?
Think Different—Like You Mean It
Paul shared something that surprised me from our book of the month "Steve Jobs". When Jobs was just starting Apple, he walked around barefoot, went on a fruit diet, and, let's be honest, he stunk. But his message was clear: THINK DIFFERENT.
Not "think different when it's comfortable." Not "think different when people understand." Just THINK DIFFERENT.
To succeed, we must think differently than the 97% who stand still. We must step into that weird, confident 3% who believe in the value they're providing. Who don't compromise. Who don't sell themselves short.
As Shane reminded us from The 72 Names of God : "Enough is never enough." Not because we're greedy, but because we came here to have it all, to banish darkness and bask in absolute light, to have world peace. We think too small. We put caps on our dreams. We settle for what seems reasonable instead of reaching for permanent happiness, true peace, the whole enchilada.
What Will You Decide Today?
So here's my question for you, the same one I asked at the end of Napoleon Hill's masterwork:
What is ONE decision you will make today, before your head hits the pillow, that moves your purpose forward?
Not tomorrow. Not when you have more information. Not when circumstances are perfect.
Today.
Because here's what I've learned through months of reading with this incredible community: Life has a way of blowing away the unnecessary papers and leaving the right page on top. And when that page appears, you have a choice. You can study it. Analyze it. Wait for more confirmation.
Or you can decide.
And once you do, everything begins to move.
Your Move
Angela Johnson shows up every single Wednesday to lead us in reciting our Major Definite Purpose—planting seeds of belief in everyone who hears her speak. She's been doing this for years. That's what commitment looks like. That's what deciding looks like.
Tomorrow, our mastermind begins a fresh book. A new chapter. Clean slate. New momentum to close out 2025.
But you don't have to wait until tomorrow to make your move.
Time is on the board right now. The pieces are set. And it's your turn.
What will you decide?
May today be the day you decide who you are. And may everything in your life rise up to meet that decision.
With overwhelming gratitude for this community and the courage each of you shows by simply showing up,
